The trend in Michigan right now involves a partnership between the Nature Conservancy and the State of Michigan coming together to purchase thousands of acres of land from International Paper, the worlds largest paper and forestry products company. The overall goal of this transaction is to protect important ecological and recreational recources, including shoreline along Lake Superior and many of the states rivers.
