Why You Should Invest in Emerging Markets… And This Latin American Powerhouse
In yesterday’s report, I covered Alexander Green’s “Short-Term Trading Strategies for 2010 – and Beyond” presentation.
Alex also explained how he looks for the best emerging market stocks – and the reason why this is such an important area:
“Emerging markets comprise more than two-thirds of the world’s land mass… three quarters of the population… and many are now going free market – cutting taxes, privatizing and seeing prosperity spread.”
Alexs stated that he only recommends foreign companies whose shares trade as ADRs on the U.S. market. And he told attendees, this is because, “They’re liquid, have small commissions, feature small spreads and you can use trailing stops.”
One ADR that Alex likes right now is MercadoLibre (Nasdaq: MELI). The firm is known as the eBay of Latin America, and Alex detailed the reasons why it’s a solid investment: “In 1999, it had 40 competitors, but most are gone now. E-commerce is predicted to grow some 40% in Latin America over the next several years. And perhaps most intriguing is that the company is a rumored takeover target, by none other than eBay itself.”
One Resource and One Sector Poised for Strong Upside
Harvard-trained geologist and former Navy man, Byron King, noted that everyone is looking for both safety and moonshot investments – a tough ask in any market climate, never mind this one.
At the moment, Byron is bullish on physical gold and silver, but also a much lesser known metal: Neodymium.
He sees demand increasing as green energy trends upward. And the reason? Neodymium is a key component in windmills – and with this area exploding, Byron foresees plenty of upside.
On a related note, world-renowned natural resources expert and chairman of Global Resource Investments, Rick Rule, reminded the audience that the secret to unlocking profits in this sector is to find “when,” not “if” investments.
One of his top tips is the agriculture sector. Rick says: “It’s a very exciting area. I’m looking at dramatic increases in food prices, which will trickle down through the entire production chain. You’ve got 500 million more people on Earth, for starters!”
Rick anticipates a sustained agricultural boom, with strong potential in Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan (NYSE: POT) – a worldwide producer of fertilizers and related feed products.
But perhaps Rick’s most “surprising” undervalued asset of all in natural resources is great management: “Resources are latent until smart people come and discover them,” says Rick. “A vast majority of the returns in this area come from a very small percent of the management investor groups. So do your research and you’ll be rewarded.”

Dr. Brown specializes in teaching stock investing because as he emphasizes "the stock market is where individuals and families have the best shot at succeeding financially!"
I bought the DVD’s from the Vancouver symposium last year and they didn’t arrive in my mail box until about 60 days after the event. The info was “old” by then and I consider it a poor investment.
Perhaps if you guarantee delivery in 15 days you could change my opinion – but without an arrival guarantee I will wait until I can attend in person.

What an article! not only it talks about investment in emerging markets (which I will say is not only South America) like BRIC nations but also talks about focusing on one sector which will be the heart of our future world. It is alternative energy sector. Imagine yourself buying shares of petroleum companies some 60/70 years back. You would have become millionaire by now. Excellent though by the blogger, great mix, lethal combination.
