One example does not a case make.
Empires from India west to Spain and nearly everywhere else in the world have imploded due to suffocation by over-indulgence.

Somebody must buy the debts governments issue.  That money is then unable to invest in companies that would otherwise use the money to hire workers.  Even if that debt does not fell the government, it is bad for jobs.  Furthermore, the taxes raised to pay that debt will cost more jobs.  Deficit spending means offering one job today at the cost of two jobs tomorrow.</description>
